We’ve seen an increase in the alternative use of Faux Furs not just in the UK but internationally too. The Faux Fur Institute in Paris has been fronting the cause to go faux for around two years and has successfully rallied troops of upcoming design students. These talented pupils are learning to work with the fabric with the support of Arnaud, the founder of Faux Fur Institute
We’re thrilled that in the last couple of months, another fashion house announced that real fur and exotic animal skins will no longer be used in their collections.
Chanel, which is currently under the direction of renowned designer Karl Lagerfeld, have joined an increasing number of fashion brands in banning fur from all future designs.
A spokeswoman for the high fashion house stated that "We are continually reviewing our supply chains to ensure they meet our expectations of integrity and traceability. In this context, it is our experience that it is becoming increasingly difficult to source exotic skins which match our ethical standards." Although their statement focuses on the boycott of exotic skins, they’ve assured that the new protocol also applies to real fur.
